Wakiso Giants confirms Bamweyana’s departure

The StarTimes Uganda Premier League side Wakiso Giants have confirmed the resignation of their head coach Douglas Bamweyana.

Bamweyana handed in the resignation letter to the club on Sunday October 24th after their 5-0 loss against Vipers SC.

The loss came after their 3-0 loss against KCCA FC in the opening game of the season.

Wakiso Giants Football Club has ratified the request by Head Coach Douglas Bamweyana to leave his role at the club as of today October 27, 2021.

After exhaustive discussions, both parties reached agreement on terms of separation.

In the meantime, Alex Gitta who has previously served as his assistant takes over the head coaching role and will work with the remaining technical staff.

Gitta has also been given chance to name his assistant during this period.

As a club, we want to send our sincere thanks to Bamweyana for the good job he has done during his stay and wish him all the best in his future endeavours,” Wakiso Giants announced in the statement.

The Purple Sharks managed to register their maiden league win this season with a 1-0 win against Police FC.
