Uganda Airlines adds a new route to its operations. On Monday, it launched its commercial flights to Bujumbura to make it a fifth route in the region.
Through the launching of successful commercial flights in the region the national carrier intends to release a statement in the aviation industry.
During the function, the Works and Transport Minister Ms. Monica Azuba Ntege said it as another milestone since the launch of the national carrier this year.
Azuba said “With this kind of milestone, the East African Community is developing infrastructure. Uganda Airlines will reduce the foreign expenditure since Ugandans would now be spending their money on their own national carrier,”.
The CEO of Uganda Airlines Mr. Cornwell Muleya said it had been a month since they launched commercial flight, it has been a success achieved.
Muleya said, “It has been an exciting experience thus far and we look forward to serving the region with our timely service. Its a pleasure to join our partners like Ethiopian Airways, Kenyan Airways, Rwanda Air and Tanzanian Airways in providing cargo and passenger services,”.
On Monday, UR flight 302 went off from Entebbe International Airport at 4:00 pm. However, it landed down at Melchior Ndadaye International Airport In Bujumbura by 5:15 pm, Ugandan time.
The Ugandan Ambassador to Burundi, Maj Gen Matayo Kyaligonza, Burundi government officials, Burundi aviation officials welcomed passengers.
Uganda Airlines adds a new route to its operations, to add more to its market networker.
Similarly, Uganda Airlines will fly 3 times a week on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays to Bujumbura.
In addition, from Entebbe to Bujumbura will cost only $295 and only $247 from Bujumbura to Entebbe.
In conclusion, Uganda Airlines will get two more Bombardier CRJ900s to join their operations and as such and it will expand to other routes to cover other destinations in Southern and Central Africa.
