The Late Deputy IGP, Gen. Lokech hasn't been replaced - Police

Police have come out to clear the air about the news that has been going on social media following publications by the country’s Major Media houses that President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni had replaced the fallen Gen. Paul Lokeck with Jackson Bakasumba as the Deputy Inspector General of Police.

“Please disregard all social media posts, making false and baseless claims, about the appointment of the Chief of Joint Staff, AIGP Jackson Bakasumba as the Deputy Inspector General of Police. It is not true and we ask all media platforms to pull down their fake stories,” Uganda Police wrote on it’s. official Twitter handle.

“We shall effectively inform the public through our proven communication channels, once the position of DIGP is filled, by the Appointing Authority,” the tweet further reads.

The Deputy IGP office went vacant following the depth of then Maj. Gen. Paul Lokech died of a blood clot on 21 August 2021.
