AS celebrations for the Eid El-Fitr closes in, OBB supported by Telecom giant, MTN Uganda handed over food items to the Muslim community in Busoga ahead of Eid El-Fitr as part of its Ramadan drive.
This support underscores the long standing relationship that the telecom giant has had with both OBB and the Muslim community as they observe the holy month of Ramadan. MTN donated food alms worth Ugx 70 million to OBB on behalf of Busoga Muslim faithful which included Posho, Sugar, Cooking Oil and Rice among others.
This year’s alms were donated to the muslim leaders, frontline essential workers who have worked and are still working selflessly and tirelessly to ensure that the communities are safe guarded from the deadly Coronavirus.
In his remarks, the Kyabazinga of Busoga His Majesty William Gabula Nadiope IV commended MTN Uganda for the generosity they have always extended towards OBB over the years.
The Kyabazinga further re-emphasized the need for his subjects to continue adhering to Standard Operation Procedures that were put up by the Ministry of Health in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
He encouraged them to continue adhering to the government regulations of social distancing, hand washing and wearing of while masks to prevent the spread of the deadly coronavirus while congregating.
The Kyabazinga further urged the Muslim community to go and get immunized with the COVID-19 Jab so that they become safe.
He appreciated cabinet Ministers in OBB and Busoga Royals Concepts for bringing strategic partnerships and contributing to the development of Busoga.
While handing over the foodstuffs at the Busoga Kingdom headquarters in the presence of his Majesty the Kyabazinga in Igenge Palace, Jinja, Wim Vanhelleputte, The MTN Uganda CEO congratulated the Muslim community for observing Ramadan amidst these challenging circumstances and encouraged them to keep the faith and continue to seek Allah at all times.
Vanhelleputte further said that: “Over the years MTN Uganda has stood with OBB and Muslim community within the region and this year has not been any different. With our humble donation, we hope that we can show our love and support for the people of Busoga this Ramadan period.”
The Second deputy Prime Minister and BRC overseer in OBB institution Owek. Osman Noor Ahmed, thanked MTN Uganda’s CEO for the donation to Muslims.
Owek. Osman urged the Muslim community to always keep peace and good morals before, during and after Ramadan.
Busoga regional Khadi, Sheikh Hussein Bowa extended his gratitude and appreciation towards OBB and MTN on behalf of the Muslim community in Busoga sub region.
Present at the function were, the 1st Deputy Prime minister Owek, Kisambira Muhammad, chairman Busoga Royal Concepts Prof. Wasswa Balunywa, the speaker of Busoga Lukiiko, Owek. Mutyabule, Cabinet ministers in OBB institution, Jinja Mayor elect Peter Kasolo, the Chairman Busoga Muslim Region, Isa Matovu Juma and Jinja DPC Patience Namara among others.
