NUP’s Mathias Mpuuga to lead the opposition in 11th Parliament

The National Unity Platform has selected Mathias Mpuuga to represent it as the head of Opposition in the 11th Parliament.

Mathias Mpuuga is set to replace Forum for Democratic Change’s Betty Aol Ochan who has previously served as the head of Opposition after taking on power from party mate Winnie Kizza.

Unlike the previous Parliamentary seating, the head of Opposition will not come from the Forum for Democratic Change since National Unity Platform has the highest number of Opposition representatives in the house standing at 57.

Also, the National Unity Platform’s representatives are expected to head multiple other offices in the currently seating house which include;

John Nambeshe has been appointed the Opposition chief whip and he is meant to be deputized by Manjeri Kyebakutika while Medard Segona shall chair PAC with Asuman Basalirwa as his deputy

Moving on, Joel Ssenyonyi has been appointed as COSASE Chairperson with Lucy Akello as his vice whereas Betty Namboze and Joseph Ssewungu shall hold positions of Chairperson Government Assurances and Vice Chairperson Government Assurances respectively.

Francis Zaake has been appointed Commissioner of Parliament while Martin Ojara has been appointed as the Chairperson of Local Government Accounts and he is to be deputized by Lutamaguzi Ssemakula.

The Pan African Parliament is to be run by Patrick Nsamba, the Commonwealth Parliament has been entrusted to David Kalwanga whereas Inter-Parliamentary Union and Parliamentary Pension Fund shall be handled by Flavia Kalule and Aisha Kabanda respectively.
