NUP Mps Ssegirinya and Ssewanyana Remanded To Kitalya Prison

The Masaka Chief Magistrates Court has today sent National Unity Platform MPs Kawempe North Mp Muhammad Ssegirinya and Makindye West Mp Allan Ssewanyana to Kitalya prison.

These were remanded to Kitalya until the 15th of September this month over the Masaka killings.

“NUP MPs, Hon. Ssegirinya Muhammad and Hon. Allan Ssewanyana have been charged at Masaka Chief Magistrates Court with four counts, 3 of murder and 1 of attempted murder and remanded to Kitalya prison until 15th September.”

The two were last week issued with court summons to Masaka police station to record statements over the ongoing Masaka murders.

The two appeared yesterday 6th September 2021 alongside their lawyers in Masaka.

Uganda Police came out to say that they had intelligence that the two Mps were the masterminds behind the Masaka murders.

Fred Enanga the Police Spokesperson said that the suspects that had been arrested pinned the two legislators as having promised them wealth in a meeting held in Ndeeba to plan these murders.

Last week Minister Chris Baryomunsi and President Museveni said that the murders were political much to the disappointment of the Opposition especially NUP principle Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu.
