The new minister for Justice and Constitutional Affairs in the Museveni regime Nobert Mao has criticized the manner in which the NRM won yesterday’s By-election in Soroti East.
The returning officer Ms Christine Eyu declared NRM’s Herbert Ariko as the winner with 9,407 votes while his closest competitor Moses Attan of FDC got 8,771 votes.
This election however had many allegations of discrepancies such as ballot stuffing, voter bribery and excessive use of force by security forces.
According to Nobert Mao,this election clearly points out why NRM and DP signed an agreement centering other peaceful transition of power and fair elections.
The DP president added that Attan did not lose this election. Patriotic Ugandans won and this justified why there should be national dialogue on the politics in Uganda.
Soroti gives meaning & makes moral sense of the terms of the DP-NRM Cooperation Agreement. Attan did not lose. Patriotic Ugandans won additional justification and urgency to hold the National Dialogue for the Institutional Reforms that the DP-NRM Cooperation Agreement calls for!

Mao has been under increased pressure from his critics after he signed a working partnership with the NRM a few days ago. Consequently he was appointed the Minister of Justice and Constitutional Affairs by President Museveni.
