President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has reopened places of worship on Wednesday during his presidential address on Covid-19. He also set for them strict rules of operation including keeping social distance and wearing masks along with limiting the number of worshipers to 200.
“Places of worship can now open under the following conditions; limit the number of worshipers at any one time to not more than 200, provided the place of worship can ensure physical distancing of 2 meters on either side and adequate aeration” President Museveni said.
“There must be strict adherence to all SOPs at all times, i.e. hand washing/ use of alcohol-based sanitizer, temperature monitoring, and consistent wearing of face masks by all congregants, including the choir and preachers,” President Museveni added.
Churches were closed down as the country went into the second lockdown in June following the second wave of Covid-19 infections in the country.
He also increased on the capacity of attendance for weddings, burials and other social events from 20 to 200 people
“Weddings, burials, and other social events: The number of persons attending these events can now increase to 200 under strict observance of SOPs,” President Museveni said
