Ugandan Police has Released the National Unity Platform legislature’s Muhammad Ssegirinya and Allan Ssewanyana on bond in connection to Masaka Murders. The duo had gone to Masaka Police Station where they had been summoned for involvement in the murders that claimed 28 lives in a period of one month.
The development comes hours after Police Spokesperson Fred Enanga said that the suspects had implicated the duo in masterminding the murders. This was during a Security Media briefing on Monday while the legislatures appeared before the police.
“The suspects indicated to us how they were promised wealth and this was under the command of the two politicians. We are going to record statements from the two MPs who are behind the murders,” Fred Enanga said.
“The statements from suspects indicate that in a meeting at Ndeeba, they were recruited and all was done under the command of the two politicians,” he added.
Earlier last week, the ICT and National Guidance Minister, Mr Chris Baryomunsi said the killings were linked to politicians to incite fear Among the public. This was during a press briefing at the Uganda Media Center on Tuesday.
“What seems to come out is that these people are being used by some politicians to create fear among the population,” Mr Chris Baryomunsi said
