The Ministry of Health has received 3,050,400 doses of the Johnson and Johnson vaccines under COVAX facility under the dose sharing arrangement which were donated by Germany.
According to the Minister of Health Jane Ruth Aceng, the vaccines will accelerate Covid-19 vaccination in hard to reach areas around the countries.
“The J&J vaccines will be deployed in hard-to-reach areas during the ongoing Accelerated mass vaccination campaign,” she said.
“The batches received today are part consolidated shared doses of 9,950,400 doses of J &J vaccines from the Governments of Germany, Estonia, Italy and Belgium,” she added.
The Ministry of health parament secretary Diana Atwine said that additional 2.4m doses are expected on the 9th of December & subsequently 4.5m before the end of December. “These will greatly boost our vaccination campaign,” she added.
