According to the latest opening dates released by Makerere University, freshers (new students) will report at campus premises on 1st March 2021. This is was in a letter from the University Vice-Chancellor Professor Barnabas Nawangwe to the Makerere fraternity.
However, continuing students and finalists are to start online learning on Monday next week.
“Enrolment, registration and teaching of freshers will commence on 1st March 2021 on campus,” Nawangwe said.
“Teaching and learning for the continuing students and finalists will commence online on Monday 8th February 2021,” he added.

This development follows President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’s guidance on the resumption of operations at higher learning institutions during his address to the Nation on Thursday.
“The universities and tertiary institutions will open in March in a staggered way. The good thing with the universities is they are already teaching online,” President Museveni said.
According to Makerere University Vice-Chancellor, Professor Barnabas Nawangwe, A schedule for staggered learning for all the students on campus will be issued as soon as arrangements are completed.
