Kayunga District Celebrates Kalangwa Kalisa Moses' loss in NRM CEC

Kayunga District is in immeasurable joy and celebrations following the victory of Tourism Minister Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi against Mr. Kalangwa Kalisa Moses the outgoing NRM district Chairperson.

Following the declaration of Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi as the duly elected NRM Vice Chairperson for the central region by the NRM electoral commission chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi on the 21st –August 2020 at around 4:00am, Kayunga District was filled with immeasurable joy that made some people drum and dance along the main Kayunga-Bbaale-Galiraya road.

Unlike other districts like Namutumba which felt sad for the loss of their candidate Hon. Princess Namuganza who lost to Rt. Hon. Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga for the National Vice chairman Female, Kayunga District was a reverse when they heard that Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi had won the race.

According to the NRM Electoral Commission, following the voting on the 20th-August-2020 by the NRM delegates throughout the country Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi earned a total number of 4,749 votes while Mr. Kalangwa Kalisa Moses got 3,701 votes hence declaring Hon. Godfrey Kiwanda Suubi as the winner of the CEC position.

It should be remembered that Mr. Kalangwa Kalisa Moses has always been cited in scandalous acts during elections of Kayunga District and other By-elections across the country the most recent one being Hoima By-election where FDC’s Asinansi Nyakato who was backed up by Kyandodo East Legislator also the National Unity Platform then People Power Movement Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu lost to the NRM Candidate Harriet Busingye Mugenyi Akiki.

He (Mr. Kalangwa Kalisa Moses) has always been at war with the district Woman Member of Parliament also former Minister of Lands Hon. Nantaba Idah Erios who accuses him for being involved in different cases of land grabbing within the district. Efforts to get Hon. Nantaba Idah Erios’ view on the elections results were futile though her close allies were seen very happy and thanking God for the miracle.

Speaking to one of the delegates that participated in the elections within Kayunga district Mr. Musisi Charles Musomesa the District Vice-Chairperson and also the Bbaale Sub-County Councilor noted that the elections went one well seeing Mr. Kalangwa Kalisa Moses losing a number of votes regardless of his win in the district though his agents circulated wrong election results on social media.

He further noted that out of the district 75 delegates 2 of which didn’t turn up to vote, Mr. Kalangwa Kalisa Moses’ agents circulated 79 votes in his favor and only 01 vote against him which not right and mathematically wrong and scientifically impossible since the total number of voters is surpassed by the engineered results circulated on social media.

This might be the fall of Mr. Kalangwa Kalisa Moses’ political career since all signs indicate that his daughter Ms. Jackline Kalangwa Birungi who’s contesting as the Woman MP of the district may be overwhelmingly won by the incumbent Hon. Nantaba Idah Erios in the general elections.
