Karim Benzema set for Madrid contract extension

Karim Benzema is set to sign a new two-year deal with Real Madrid within the next few days.

The contract extension will see Karim Benzema remain there until 2023, according to ABC.

The 33-year-old has agreed to take a 10 percent pay-cut on his £166,000-a-week salary in the first year of his new deal.

This will be increased by 15 percent in the second 12 months.

Benzema is entering his 13th year at the Bernabeu after signing for them in 2009 for £30million.

He has made it clear he’ll leave the club before his new contract is over if he’s not given enough playing time.

ABC also claim that the striker will not extend his new deal further.

This is because he may choose to retire in 2024.

Karim Benzema could end up playing along-side his French team-mate Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe has been heavily-linked with a move to Carlo Ancelotti’s side recently.
