Senior Internal Auditor John Bahati Ssempiira has been banned from holding any public office for the next decade.
Masaka District Senior Internal Auditor John Bahati Ssempiira has been banned Senior Internal Auditor John Bahati from holding any public office over corruption by Grade one Magistrate Moses Nabende of the anti-corruption court.
He is accused of taking a one million bribe on 22nd April from one Emmanuel Kiwumulo Mwanja who is pensioner with an aim of helping him process his gratuity although he initially asked for a two million bribe.
Due to this, he was arrested by the State Anti-corruption Unit and has since pleaded guilty to the offense. He additionally pleads as a first-time offender and a sole breadwinner of his family.
He further entered a plea agreement in which he is willing to pay a sum of Shs 500,000 on the two charges filled against him and in case he fails, he may serve a two-year jail sentence. Also, he’ll have to refund the one million bribe he took.

“He has fully complied with his terms of release on police bond and is willing to abide by the terms of this agreement. He has agreed to plead guilty and hence not wasting court’s time and other valuable resources,” stated the agreement in part.
Although he may survive a jail sentence, the grade one Magistrate ordered that he should not be given any office of public importance for the next ten years.
