Honorable Jacob Oulanyah has given Rebecca Kadaga a bloody nose in the Speakership race at the Kololo independence grounds.
The now Speaker of Parliament Jacob Oulanyah has won with a majority vote of 310 votes putting him in a 113 victory against outgoing Speaker of Parliament Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.
In the right race of three, Jacob Oulanyah had 310 votes followed by former Speaker Rebecca Kadaga who had 197 votes and in the third place was Ssemujju Nganda who got 15 votes.
Oulanyah now has the mantle and shall lead the seating house for the next five years until 2026 when the next elections shall be conducted to select the next Speaker of Parliament.
He also serves as the Parliamentary representative for the Omoro County which he has held for a number of years.
Kadaga who has been knocked out had chaired the house since 2011 when she was first elected as a Speaker of Parliament. This was followed by her second chance that was granted in the 2016 general election.

Previously, the Central Executive Committee had nominated Oulanyah as the NRM representative in the Speakership race which Rebecca Kadaga had decided to object and stand.
However, the Members of Parliament have made the final decision as Right Honourable Jacob Oulanyah shall chair the month taking on from former Speaker Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga.
