ICPAU prepares to hold the 11th edition of the FiRe awards

Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Uganda (ICPAU) in partnership with Capital Markets Authority, Uganda Securities Exchange, and Vision Group are set to hold the 11th Financial Reporting Awards (FiRe).

This announcement was made by executives from the four companies earlier this week through a virtual press conference in which they promised to uphold the FiRe awards culture for the 11th times.

The 11th anniversary FiRe awards shall be held under the theme, Integrated Reporting: Building Blocks for Stakeholder Confidence.

In the last two years, kin interest has been put on Integrated Reporting. This is a global reporting framework that puts it’s focus on addressing information needed by investors through in detailed demonstration of how financial, manufactured, intellectual, human, social and natural resources are utilized to create value for investors.

FiRe awards were first held in 2011 and since then, the culture has been upheld. It is an annual ceremony where recognition is made for excellence in financial reporting as well as rewards are given.

Participation for private, public and Non-governmental organizations sectors are open, the only necessity a company requires is the submission of it’s annual reports of the year being considered.

There after, the best performers are selected basing on how much they comply to the International financial reporting standards, so the selected best performers shall be given awards.
