Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, the UPDF Commander of Land Forces, has expressed the UPDF readiness to take action against the Guinea Coup leaders and oust them from power. He said they were waiting for President Yoweri Museveni’s order who is the commander in chief of the UPDF
In a tweet on Tuesday evening, The General described the coup leaders under the command of Col Mamady Doumbouya as “mutinous troops.”
“If our Commander in Chief gave us instructions it wouldn’t take UPDF a day to discipline mutinous troops like the ones in Guinea-Conakry,” Gen Muhoozi.
Col Doumbouya ended President Alfa Conde’s rule earlier this month in a coup and announced himself as the new leader of the West African state.
The young military officer said the army had little choice but to seize power citing rampant corruption, disregard for human rights and economic mismanagement
Prior to leading the countries Elite Forces by the time of the coup, highly trained Col Doumbouya served on several international tours in Afghanistan, Ivory Coast, Djibouti, Central African Republic and close protection in Israel, Cyprus, the UK and Guinea.
