Forest Mall and Shoprite Given Tough Conditions for reopening.

Following the closure of Forest Mall and Shoprite, Kampala Deputy Resident Commissioner in charge of Nakawa, Burora Herbert Anderson has set a number of conditions for reopening of the giant shopping centers.

The two entities have been closed over the failure to observe the Covid-19 standard operating procedures.

In the letter to the managing directors of the two organizations, Burora said that the mall will remain closed until the set conditions are fulfilled.

Among the terms is all financial institutions operating within their premises providing transport for their workers and putting in place Covid-19 standard operating procedures as guided by the president and health ministry.

“Private cars shall not be allowed into the premises apart from those that identify with essential services provided within the premises,” the letter reads in part.

All restaurants operating with the area have been tasked to prove their social distancing as oppose to the current arrangements.

However, pharmacies will remain open and workers will be allowed to enter on the identification of themselves.
