FDC and NRM make a fool of themselves claiming UCU guild elections victory

Rival political parties FDC and NRM have made a fool of themselves on Twitter after each claiming victory in the recently concluded Uganda Christian University (UCU) guild elections.

These elections saw Mirembe Rachel Sserwadda declared the winner after beating her closest contestant Ayebare Phillip Bravo.

FDC rushed to claim the victory as theirs branding Mirembe their flag bearer.

Shortly NRM also congratulated the legal scholar for raising the NRM flag high.

However, UCU’s guild elections are purely non partisan.

It’s therefore not clear why the two parties rushed to claim Mirembe’s win as theirs.

Her posters neither showed that she was affiliated to any of the two political parties.

Meanwhile her campaign was build on the manifesto of five points that include reforms on health, education, security, accountability and formidable leadership.

She becomes the 24th guild president of the institution.
