Former Prime minister has Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda has distanced himself from having presidential ambitions for the Country’s next General election in 2026. This followed several social media that he was seeking to replace his former boss, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.
He said this through his official Twitter handle on Tuesday where he said that he never had intentions of contesting in the presidential election.
“I have read social media postings and suggestions that I should run for President in 2026. I would like to make it known that I have no such intentions or plans,” Rugunda tweeted.
Rugunda served as Prime Minister between 2014 and 2021. Prior to his appointment, he had served as minister in several ministries since President Museveni came into power in 1986.
