Basing on the list released by President Museveni during the course of the week, Dr. Aminah Zawedde had been awarded the position of Permanent Secretary of Ministry of ICT and National Guidance.
She will be replacing Vincent Waiswa Bagiire who has held the position since November 2016 and has currently Bern transferred to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs whose Permanent Secretary previously was Amb. Patrick Mugoya.
Hence Dr. Zawedde’s appointment to the Ministry of ICT as a permanent secretary who has been serving as a board member of the National Information Technology Authority (NITA) Uganda and a Non-Executive Director DFCU Group.
The newly appointed Permanent Secretary holds a PhD from Eindhoven University of Technology, a PhD IP in Education Technologies from the University of Cape Town, a PGD in Education from IUIU, a MSc. Computer Sciences and a BSc. Of Statistics and Economics from Makerere University.
Through the Thursday evening released document by President Museveni, Dr. Zawedde was officially announced the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of ICT for the next five years until 2021, the document had an opening statement that read;
“By the powers given to President by Article 99,172 (1) (a) of the Constitution of the Republic of Uganda and the Uganda Public Service Standing Order (A-n), I hereby retire the following Permanent Secretaries in the Public Interest.”
However, in the same document, upto seven Permanent Secretaries were retired from office and among those that were laid off include David Ebong who previously served as the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Science Technology and Innovation which was scrapped off by President Museveni.
