Chief Magistrate instructs immediate treatment for tortured suspect Katumba assassin

Chief Magistrate Mr. Douglas Singiza has ordered urgent treatment be administered to the 30-year-old suspected assassin for injuries he attained while in detention.

This was due to complaints levied by his lawyer Mr. Anthony Wameli that his client had during their interaction complained of multiple injuries sustained during his time of detention as inflicted by security operatives.

“We interacted with our client and he complained of torture that has been meted against him while in detention. Many parts of his body are visibly swollen, especially the hands and the feet. There are also other parts which are covered by clothes that were injured and swollen,” Mr Wameli said while presenting in court in relation to his client’s health.

Huzaifa Wampa popularly known as Kanaabe was arrested this week in relation to the June 1st shooting at the Minister of Works and Transport, General Katumba Wamala which claimed the life of his daughter and bodyguard.

While appearing before the Chief Magistrate in Nakawa court today, he was charged with terrorism, murder, and attempted murder after which he got remanded to Kitalya Maximize Security Prison.

The court was then adjourned to 3rd August 2021 when the court proceedings would resume in relation to the offense he committed much as many other suspects are still being looked for.
