CHAN 2020: Players who gained from the tournament

Like any other tournament, the 2020 African Nations Championship (CHAN) have unveiled several new talents.

Several players excelled at the tournament in Cameroon and have already made big gains from their participation.

They have already signed lucrative contract with clubs abroad.

Four players are counting the benefits of playing in the tournament designed exclusively for home-based players and these are;

Saidi Kyeyune

Kyeyune was impressive for Uganda although the East African side was unable to make it to the knockout stage.

The 27-year-old midfielder, who was the Cranes’ best performer at the tournament scored two impressive long-range goals.

These were against Togo and Morocco and gained a move to Sudanese giants El Merreikh.

Kyeyune moves from local side Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club (URAFC) to boost the Sudanese side ahead of their participation in continental club competition.

Peter Muduhwa

Zimbabwe national team defender Peter Muhuhwa also sealed a move to Tanzanian side Simba FC to help them improve their side in domestic and continental competitions.

“Welcome to the big family of Tanzania champions defender Peter Muduhwa ‘Master of Defense'” Simba confirmed on their official twitter account.


“We as the Simba family welcome you with both hands and we believe you will help us perform well in the Caf Champions League and the Simba Super Cup.

“Muduhwa, who joins us from Zimbabwean outfit Highlanders FC, has arrived to seal the deal from Cameroon where he was representing Zimbabwe in the African Nations Competition.”

Doxa Gikanji

DR Congo midfielder Doxa Gikanji has moved from Daring Club Motema Pembe to the Tanzanian side Simba SC after excelling for his country at the CHAN.

Soumaila Ouattara

Burkina Faso defender Soumaila Ouattara has left local side Rahimo FC for greener pasture in the attractive Morocco top-flight league.

The 25-year-old centre-back has joined Raja Casablanca to become their fourth and last foreign player ahead of the start of local and continental competitions.

He was also spotted during the CHAN and with the tournament ending on Sunday.

Some players in the semi-final will not seal their moves until the end of the competition
