Following the death of Msgr. Georg Ratzinger the elder brother of Pope emeritus Benedict XVI on 1st July 2020 and his burial on 8th July 2020, the Catholic Church has again today 14th July 2020 lost another high ranked clergy in its hierarchy the Archbishop of Chittagong Most Rev. Moses Costa, C.S.C at the age of 69years.

The death of the man of God who passed on today at 9:30 am at Square Hospital in Dhaka was announced by the Archbishop of Dhaka, His Eminence Cardinal Patrick D’Rozario, C.S.C. “after a successful battle with COVID-19, the Archbishop finally succumbed to multiple strokes that caused brain hemorrhage” He officially announced.
The late was admitted to the square Hospital on 13th June 2020 exactly one month now with severe respiratory distress and cough. Since then he had all signs of a recovering patient till 9th July 2020 when he was transferred to the ICU where he drew his last breath.

Most Rev. Moses Costa, C.S.C was the 1st Archbishop of Chittagong following its elevation to the Archdiocesan level. He was appointed by His Holiness Pope Francis I. during his celibacy life he established a number of health centers, educational institutions, charitable organizations, and many non-profit organizations. His death is an irrecoverable loss to the Congregation of Holy Cross priests, to Bangladesh, and the catholic church in general.

The funeral of the clergy will take place tomorrow 14th July 2020 at 3:30pm at the Chittagong Cathedral.

6th April 2011 at the age of 60 was appointed Bishop of Chittagong, Bangladesh
27th May 2011 was installed as Bishop of Chittagong, Bangladesh
2nd February 2017 was appointed Archbishop of Chittagong, Bangladesh
13th July 2020 passed on at Square Hospital in Dhaka
