Casinos & gyms reopen as Concerts, Bars, remain banned

Museveni Reopens Places of Worship, sets strict guidelines for operation.

In his Covid-19 address to the Nation, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni reopened gyms casinos, gaming and betting shops on Wednesday. The president ordered their regularly bodies to inspect them.

“The casinos, gaming, betting shops and gyms can now operate during the day and close by 6:00pm,” President Museveni said.

“The various local governments Cities, and Kampala Capital City Authority, working with the National Gaming and Lottery Board MUST inspect the various betting outlets for suitability and adherence to SoPs before opening,” President Museveni added

However, bars, concerts, disco have remained closed since the last year in the month of March during the start of the pandemic.

“Concerts, disco halls, performing artists, and beaches: These tend to congregate in large numbers and are difficult to control,” President Museveni said.

“With the level of vaccination still low, I direct that these remain closed until at least the 4.8 million priority population is vaccinated,” he added.
