Ali Matovu LDU claims the life of a first-year University student

Ali Matovu a first-year student of Metropolitan University pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Education today breathed his last after he was gunned down by an LDU personnel.

According to the guid president Ahmed Kiwanuka, the incident occured at around 7.00am next to the Namungoona based University’s Faculty of Education and Humanities premises.

Local press was further informed that the events prior to the occurance indicate that the unfortunate occured after Matovu rejected the polices’ command to stop and have his bag checked.

During this time, the deceased was suspected to have stolen a laptop and his actions only worsened the situation. Initially, when he tried to run, he was arrested but his second attempt to flee earned him four bullets, two in the chest and two in the head.

The students fraternity on the other hand is greatly grieved by the situation as a third year student doing the same course disclosed to press that;

“We’re still in a shock how our fellow student was killed in cold blood, they claimed he was running, but he was shot in close distance, we only heard the soldiers telling us to remain in classrooms that they were more robbers. But no one else they arrested was shot on,” said Muhammad Ssemakula.

However, in between Luke Owoyesigyire, the Kampala Metropolitan Deputy Police Spokesperson, and the Deputy UPDF Spokesperson, Colonel Deo Akiiki, neither the police nor the army has anything to say.

It must be noted that this is not the first time such an incident is happening as recently, a veteran journalist who once headed the journalists’ association was shot dead by an LDU.
